The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is to we believe set to announce a tax raid on inheritance as he attempts to balance the books in his autumn statement.
The chancellor and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had agreed to freeze the threshold above which people must pay tax for another two years which means that more people will have to pay inheritance tax, the newspaper reported.
The current threshold is set at £325,000.00 meaning anything over this is potentially taxable. The threshold was due to to increase but is now likely to be frozen meaning around 10,000 families could find themselves with a larger bill over the course of the next two years.
